Investment Quality Diamonds
Most of my clients purchase diamond engagement rings which will stay in their families for a lifetime. Investment diamonds are designed with a different type of investment structure. Ideally, I present my clients with the very best of the best; something that is not typically worn but rather put away for safekeeping and appreciation.
With years of experience and expertise, I will guide you into the proper decision making process of investment quality diamonds. They typically end up being Round Brilliant-Cut (RBC) D color and IF (internally flawless), these are appropriately backed up with a GIA Diamond Grading Certificate. The RBC D IF markets which trade internationally are determined by a particular price structure that overtime has increased in value*. I cannot possibly guarantee that the price would potentially increase overtime, but what I can share is that extremely high valuable item is easily transportable and holds a significant amount of money value, something no other investment can do. Also, in my experience, multi-million dollars stones require various challenging logistics and often are purchased through the 'free port' countries of the world. Like precious metals sales, important diamond purchases are backed up with a comprehensive contract between Buyer and Seller.
Investment quality diamonds can also be very rare natural mined colored diamonds, like blue and red diamonds. These can be extremely costly in their price per carat. These too can be quite volatile in their price structure. A lot has been written recently about how well they are to invest in but again the desirability of someone who wants blue is very different than the demand and trade-ability of a RBC D IF stone. This is the tricky part investing in diamonds; being profitable at the end of the day you still need someone to want the particular colored diamond you're re-selling.
